BUILDING ENVELOPE SCIENCES - Intern/Co-op
Function: Training for technical preparation of design development and construction documents, on-site building water penetration testing, and review and investigation of building envelope failures, and writing reports documenting field conditions of failures.
Education: In process of attaining Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Envelope, Construction Management, or related field.
Certification: No certification required.
Experience: Junior technical staff member with limited experience in construction observation, design development, architectural CAD and Revit drafting, and detailing on a limited variety of project types. Less than one year of experience.
Knowledge: Limited knowledge of procedures for production of design development and construction documents; architectural planning, drafting, detailing, and building materials. Limited knowledge of site planning, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and acoustical engineering.
Primary Tasks:
Assists in preparation and development of CAD plans, details, drawings, and specifications.
Assists in project field verification and measuring support as needed.
Works with Building Envelope Sciences team to develop remedial approaches for solving issues to include field testing and review of remediation work under construction and issuing reports.
Has own transportation to travel to project sites and meetings (mileage is a reimbursable expense).
Willing to safely work from roofs, aerial lifts, staging. Must be able to climb ladders and lift and carry up to 50 lbs of tools and equipment if necessary.
Able to work flexible hours based on project/office needs.
