Christa McAuliffe Challenger Center

Framingham, MA

The Christa McAuliffe Challenger Center for Integrated Science Learning at Framingham State University was built in 1994. The aging center needed a redesign and modernization to integrate the new technologies and systems that represent the latest in Challenger Learning Centers, located nationwide. The goal was to convert the current center into a suite of multifunctional, technology-enabled learning spaces, and to introduce modern visualizations and simulation capabilities.

As the lead architect, GRLA worked closely with the Massachusetts State College Building Authority, the Owner’s Project Manager, STV, and the construction manager, Commodore Builders to redesign a space that continues to inspire and educate audiences of all ages particularly school age students.
