Stoneham Public Library

The Junior Library at the Stoneham Public Library required reorganization and a cosmetic refresh. The original building, constructed circa 1905, has undergone multiple modifications over the years to meet evolving needs, including an expansion of the children’s library and meeting rooms in the 1980s.

GRLA’s design reorganized the 3,400 SF space to improve circulation and function, introducing a centrally located custom circulation desk, refreshed reading and activity areas, and dedicated support staff rooms. New shelving improves the efficiency and accessibility of the collection to better serve patrons, while new flooring and a updated paint palette breathe renewed life and warmth into the interior. GRLA collaborated closely with contractor TM Construction Management, the Town of Stoneham, and Library Director Rachel Overbeck and her team, resulting in a successful, community-focused refresh that enhances the visitor experience.
