As Gorman Richardson Lewis Architects (GRLA) celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026, the firm is announcing a planned ownership transition that positions the company for continued growth while honoring the legacy of one of its founders.
After five decades of leadership, Scott Richardson, AIA, co-founder and President of GRLA, will retire at the end of 2026. Since helping establish the firm in 1976, Richardson has played a pivotal role in shaping GRLA into one of Central Massachusetts’ most respected architecture, interiors, and building envelope consulting firms.
“Building this firm has been one of the great privileges of my life,” said Richardson. “What makes me most proud is not the buildings we’ve designed, but the talented people, lasting relationships, and strong culture we’ve built along the way. I am incredibly confident in the future of GRLA and the leadership team that will guide it forward.”
As part of the transition, long-term GRLA employees Marc DiPilato, Director of Architecture (27 years of service), Skye Jensen, Director of Finance (10 years of service), and Chris Paszko, P.E., Director of Building Envelope Sciences (9 years of service), will assume ownership roles as Partners in 2027.
Their promotions reflect years of dedication to the firm and its clients, as each has helped shape GRLA's culture, reputation, and growth. Together, they represent the firm's integrated approach to architecture, interior design, and building envelope sciences while bringing decades of combined experience serving public, private, educational, cultural, and institutional clients throughout New England. The transition has been carefully planned to ensure continuity for clients, staff, and community partners
“Our clients can expect the same values, commitment, and level of service that have defined GRLA for 50 years,” said Paszko. “This transition reflects the strength of the organization Scott helped build and our shared commitment to thoughtful design, technical excellence, and community engagement.”
“GRLA’s success has always been rooted in collaboration, creativity, and a genuine commitment to our clients and communities,” said Jensen. “As we look to the future, I’m excited to build on the strong foundation Scott and our leadership team have created while continuing to foster a culture where talented people can do their best work and deliver meaningful results for those we serve.”
The leadership transition coincides with the firm’s year-long celebration of its 50th anniversary, providing an opportunity to reflect on five decades of impact while embracing the opportunities ahead.
“While leadership is evolving, our mission remains unchanged,” said DiPilato. “We will continue to create spaces that strengthen communities, support our clients’ goals, and improve the lives of the people who use them every day.”
