GRLA has completed approximately 62,000 square feet of laboratory and manufacturing renovations for Revvity at its Hopkinton, Massachusetts campus. Working closely with Revvity’s laboratory managers, operations teams, and project partners, GRLA led the planning and design of specialized research, manufacturing, and support environments within the company’s existing facilities.
The project, which began in April 2024, challenged GRLA to integrate the highly specialized requirements of multiple laboratory groups into a cohesive and efficient program while making the most effective use of existing building infrastructure. The completed renovations include state-of-the-art research laboratories, clean rooms, manufacturing areas, warehousing, large cold rooms, and walk-in freezers.
“The success of this project came from understanding not only what each laboratory group needed, but how all of the spaces, equipment, people, and building systems needed to work together,” said Dina Soliman, GRLA project manager “Our role was to translate those operational requirements into a cohesive environment that supports Revvity’s work today while providing flexibility for future growth.”
GRLA brought extensive laboratory planning and technical coordination expertise to the project. More than 60 fume hoods, specialized scrubber systems, extensive HVAC infrastructure, and other highly technical equipment had to be carefully integrated within the existing buildings.
Rather than approaching the renovation as a series of individual spaces, GRLA developed a comprehensive plan that coordinated laboratory functions, equipment, circulation, support spaces, utilities, and building infrastructure. This approach allowed Revvity to consolidate and modernize critical operations while maximizing the value of its existing facilities.
GRLA worked closely with BER, the project’s MEP engineer, to coordinate major mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades required to support the specialized laboratory and manufacturing environments.
The completed renovations provide Revvity with modern, purpose-built environments that support its research and manufacturing operations while improving efficiency and creating greater flexibility for future needs.
Construction management services were provided by Timberline Construction, with JLL providing owner’s project management services.
